Classic apple chutney

Ingredients

  1. Step 1 1 ½kg cooking apples, peeled and diced
  2. Step 2 750g light muscovado sugar
  3. Step 3 500g raisins
  4. Step 4 2 medium onions, finely chopped
  5. Step 5 2 tsp mustard seeds
  6. Step 6 2 tsp ground ginger
  7. Step 7 1 tsp salt
  8. Step 8 700ml cider vinegar

Directions

  1. Step 1 Combine all the ingredients in a large, heavy saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil over a medium heat, then simmer uncovered, stirring frequently, for 30-40 mins, or until thick and pulpy. Remove from the heat, leave to cool and transfer to sterilised, clean, dry jars and seal.
